New Age Top 40

Please remember these are my favorites. I may think some deserve to be higher on the list than others, but those are not the ones I personally enjoy or listen to more. It’s really hard to rate these.

01. Delerium – Wisdom (ft. Kristy Thirsk)
Album: Karma
Released: 1997
Lyrics

This song is from God herself. I love this song. I love the vocalist, the lyrics. Everything about this song is what I look for in music. It’s fast paced, it’s exciting, it’s tragic.

02. Sarah Brightman – Eden
Album: Eden
Released: 1998
Lyrics

Obsession. I have so many strong memories and feelings with this song, words cannot describe it for me.

03. Bel Canto – Waking Will
Album: Shimmering Warm & Bright
Released: 1992
Lyrics

This song could easily be at the top of the list. I actually just discovered this song last year (2008). Anneli Drecker’s voice just might be my most favorite of all time because of this song. At the 3:10 mark, it’s pure heaven. I bought the album just for this song. I would spend $100 just to purchase this song. This is out of this world. Being released in 1992, it’s just ahead of its time.

04. Björk – All Is Full of Love
Album: Greatest Hits / Stigmata Soundtrack
Released: 1999
Lyrics

This is one of the best tracks I’ve ever heard. Background music & vocals are superb. First heard this at a dance concert and I was hooked. I can remember searching through all of Björk’s songs to find this. Along the way I discovered a lot of other good songs, but nothing close to this. I hate the music video by the way. The version on the album “Homogenic” is actually a remix, the is the original, intended mix.

05.

06. Björk – Pagan Poetry
Album: Vespertine
Released: 2001

I’ve listened to this on repeat for hours. I started listening to this back in 2004 in Nebraska when I was visiting friends. I still love it. The background music is magic.

07. Jonathan Elias – Hope (ft. Alanis Morissette)
Album: Prayer Cycle, The
Released: 1999

This song has a special place in my heart and was discovered during the toughest times of my life. I can still remember the day. I rarely listen to it because it just brings sadness.

08. Bel Canto – Mornixuur
Album: Shimmering Warm & Bright
Released: 1992
Lyrics

This song is beautiful. I love the lyrics, the slow rhythm. Her voice. I love the parts “free your mind” and “we are descendants of love.”

09.

10. Bel Canto – Paradise
Album: Magic Box

11. Lisa Gerrard – Sanvean

12. Delerium – Silence

13. Delerium – Till the End of Time
Album: Karma
Released: 1997

14. Delerium – Euphoria (firefly)
Album: Karma
Released: 1997

15.

16. Delerium – Paris (ft. Aude)
Album: Greatest Hits
Released:

I am in love with this song. French language is love. I love this song I usually only listen to it on good days :)

17. Amethystium – La Pluie
Album: Isablis

18. Bel Canto – Unicorn
Album: Shimmering, Warm & Bright
Released: 1992

19. Amethystium – Fable
Released: 2004

I love the background vocals… Just another special, great song.

20. Amethystium – Arcus
Released: 2004

This song is so private and special to me. I always listen to this song & album at night. It reminds me of back in 2005. It’s such a beautiful peaceful song. It has such an eerie sound to it.

22. Sarah Brightman – Time To Say Goodbye

23. Amethystium – Autumn Interlude
Album: Aphelion
Released: 2003

24. Moya Brennan – Ancient Town

25.

26.

27. Björk – Hyperballad
Album: Post
Released: 1993

First saw heard this in CKY2K. Back in like 1998 or 1999. Such a good track.

28. Delerium – After All
Album: Chimera
Released: 2003

Strong memories with this song. I don’t listen to it much anymore but this is still among my all time favorites. The Svenson remix is really good.

29. Delerium – Terra Firma (ft. Aude)
Album: Poem
Released:

I like the Gregorian chants but damn Aude’s voice is so nice. The guitar and electronic sounds are perfect mixed.

30. Sarah Brightman – Deliver Me
Album: Eden
Released: 1998

31. Sarah Brightman – Only An Ocean Away
Album: Eden
Released: 1998

This song is underrated. Sarah Brightman is the pop side of new age but she still does have some quality songs.

32. Dead Can Dance – The Host of Seraphim
Album: A Passage In Time
Released: 1991

Wow. If this doesn’t get your attention, nothing will. Just the sharp sounds of her voice scream out to me. This was placed perfectly at the end of “The Mist.” This song is mesmerizing.

33. Delerium – Enchanted (ft. Kristy Thirsk)

Damn that is got to be the sexiest voice in a song I have ever heard. A woman’s voice is an aphrodisiac. Period.

34. Björk – Harm of Will

35. Delerium – Remembrance
Album: Karma
Released: 1997

Just love the fast pace of this song. All the sounds & background vocals mix very well.

36. Patrick Cassidy & Lisa Gerrard – Amergin’s Invocation

37.

38. Amethystium – Shadowlands
Album: Evermind
Released: 2004
Lyrics

The two minute mark is where this song gets out of this world. Listen. It’s crazy how good music can be. The vocals are so beautiful.

39. Amethystium – Ethereal
Album: Odonata
Released: 2001

I first heard this song in the ending credits of a Street Fighter Vs. Mortal Kombat flash animation. This is simply ethereal. Very simple but soothing.

40. Enigma – Gravity of Love
Album: Love Sensuality Devotion
Released: 2001

I had to put this in here. It’s one of the most well known songs on this list and it was probably the first song in this genre that I liked. Paying homage.
